Adrianna Fitzpatrick is a junior and student athlete here at Wallenpaupack. She is a varsity cheerleader and one of the few captains of the Wallenpaupack cheerleading team. According to Adrianna, “Cheerleading has become such a big part of my life and has taught me so much about teamwork, dedication, and leadership.” What inspired her to become a cheerleader was something bigger than herself. In Adrianna’s perspective, cheerleading is more than being on the sidelines. It’s about building friendships and representing your school with pride.
Adrianna wished to take a step further by becoming a captain to show her team the potential she offers besides your typical cheerleading skills. She’s determined to be a supportive figure for her team and build trustworthy, comforting relationships with her fellow cheerleaders. “I want to leave a positive impact on this program and be someone that the younger cheerleaders can look up to even after I graduate.” With the help coach DeJay and encouragement from loved ones, she continues to grow into her role as a captain and overcome any challenges regarding leadership.
Her goal is to create a connected atmosphere within the team and build stronger relationships with those involved. Adrianna recognizes the hard work, dedication, and perseverance the team has put into their routines and wants to ensure it doesn’t go unnoticed. She hopes to make those around her feel appreciated and seen strengthen the morale and happiness of the cheerleaders. Not only will she encourage excitement, but another goal she has is to improve communication and positive attitudes on and off the mat. “Of course, I want us to be successful during competitions and hopefully make it to nationals, but I also want us to be successful as a team in the way we treat each other and support one another.”
