This week’s word of the week is acersecomic (ay-sur-si-KOM-ik).
Acersecomic is a rare term used to define a person whose hair has never been cut. Much more commonly found in early English dictionaries, the word was inspired by a tradition in Ancient Greece and Rome where young men would grow their hair out until they reached their manhood.
“After years of avoiding barber shops, he jokes that he has practically adopted an acersecomic lifestyle.”
