On Friday, May 1, The Wallenpaupack Executive Student Council hosted the yearly spring pep rally. The pep rally helps get the spring sports participants recognized and spread school spirit. This year the crowd was excited when the sports teams entered. The spring sports teams got to perform skits about what they do on the field. The sports were softball, baseball, boys’ tennis, girls’ lacrosse, unified track, and track and field.
When the sports were done performing, the student council held a few games for the chosen students to take part in. The first game was tic tac toe, where four students from each grade ran back and forth across the gym to place down their cloth to win a game. At the end of the first game, the freshmen were able to win overall. The second game was head to shoulders cup. This was a crowd pleaser, as this game was based on listening skills and pure reflex. The final game was the classic basketball knock out game, in which senior JP Yeo was the final standing individual.
Before the pep rally officially ended, the Student Council made a huge announcement. On Friday, May 22, a new high school event was created for Wallenpaupack, and the name of the event is the Class Olympics. The Class Olympics are a day where the classes collect points for their grade by taking part in a variety of games, such as school trivia and spike-ball. Students will be pulled from the audience to participate in the Olympics. At the end of the day, the class with the greatest number of points wins! We cannot wait for the 22nd, and good luck to the classes.
